I am heading back to St. John's NFLD where the International Women's Festival will be screening my Archetypes Trilogy. I will also be the official blogger of the festival, so be sure to check Bittertonic.com for updates.

I was really surprised and delighted that my comedy blog bittertonic.com was picked out of the blue to participate in Ford's "Escape From Boredom" campaign, which involved Ford wining and dining me in Hollywood. Tough gig.

BookShorts films are now on the Indigo/Chapters web site, and I'm pleased to say some of my stuff made it onto their Best of Page.

I edited the Inside Upside interview with Thomas Homer-Dixon, in the "Our Best Videos & Podcasts" categerory, and my three Archetypes films are in the "Special Video Features" section.

One Bullet Away, which I directed for BookShorts will be showcasing on Jan 16th @ 10:00pm on Movieola - The Short Film Channel.
After the first broadcast, the film will be in rotation in the brodcast schedule.

For details visit Movieola and feel free to spread the word :)

Fun at the One Minute Film Festival Nov 23, 06. Watch the BookShorts videoblog where I comment on writing comedy.

How to Sell: With Sex! A short film I directed and co-wrote with Diana Galligan just screened at Darryl Gold’s Hard Liquor and Porn Festival, 2006 as part of the 69 hour filmmaking challenge. It's a parody in the style of the instructional films of the 30's and 40's.

I've just finished directing another BookShort - One Bullet Away - based on Nathaniel Fick's best seller. You can watch the film here, along with behind the scene extras where I interview Nate.

Make sure to check out the new TV series Moving Stories, produced by BookShorts. Hosted by Paul Quarrington, it features loads of interviews with filmmakers and authors, including myself.

  • Adept Technologies has a brand new web site to celebrate and launch their new New York Office. I was the designer and project manager.
  • Had lots of fun coming up with this ad campaign for Moving Stories. The ads ran in Toronto's community papers.

  • Strange BreakFasts - a campaign to raise money for the Liberal Party of Canada is underway. I was approached by the grassroots arts barbarians, a group of esteemed writers and artists concerned with Harper's budget cuts to the arts. I created a mailable PDF and a small website for the cause, and with the help of the indie music group Brad Sucks, edited a funny little soundtrack for the initiative. Please check it out, read the great articles my Margaret Atwood published by The Globe and Mail about what the budget cuts mean to Canada, and donate if you can. Thanks.
  • What gives Canadians the blues? Why, if you ask some holiday revelers at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, it would seem it’s the weather. “It’s too warm, it’s too cold. My Penis has shrunk.”

Check out the video of PorkBelly Futures singing The Canadian Blues, a video I made for the BookShorts Blog.
  • Did you watch Moving Stories on Oct 26? My trilogy of shorts based on the book "Archetypes" aired on the TV series, as well as an interview where I talk about moviemaking for the mobile phone.
  • If you missed the above, don't worry, I will be featured again in episode 4 and 5 with different short films.
  • Just designed and launched a web site for Haron Enterprises - a TV Broadcast Operations and Technology company in Toronto.
  • BookShorts Rebranded - I've just helped out in the rebranding of the logo and corporate identity of BookShorts Inc., and redesigned and built a new "skin" for the web site to reveal the company's fresh new look. By "skinning" I mean I designed a new User Interface while keeping the "bones" of the site intact. This allowed us to create and build a complete new look for the site in less than a week by swapping graphics and adjusting styles in the CSS, but leaving the basic dimensions and navigation intact. Compare designs here and let me know what you think of the new look.
  • In Your Best Interest - All you need to know about Fixed Income Investing in Canada with Hank Cunningham, the author of "In Your Best Interest, the Ultimate Guide to the Canadian Bond Market," published by Dundurn Press and now in its second printing. The site features a Content Management System allowing the Hankster to update his site and blog from any browser. Highlights

  • "This Hour Has Seven Decades", the short film I wrote and directed starring Patrick Watson, and based on his autobiography of the same name, premiered at the 2005 World Wide Short Film Festival. Which, by the way, is a great festival!
  • "This Hour Has Seven Decades" had its Atlantic Premiere at the St. John's International Women's Film Festival. We were invited to attend the event where I had an absolutely wonderful time and fell in love with St. John's and Newfoundland. Now I am trying to figure out how to get back there - all suggestions welcome.
